About Pack 899
About Cub Scout Pack 899 in Fallston MD
Since 1991, Cub Scout Pack 899 in Fallston has been made up of families actively engaged in mentoring our youth from young boys to young men. Cub Scout Pack 899 is chartered by the Fallston United Methodist Church. The Church has always been very supportive of Scouts and, in turn, Pack 899 has been supportive of the charitable efforts of the Church. Pack 899 is open to scouts of all faiths.
The scouts in Cub Scout Pack 899 in Fallston are busy throughout the year with fun and challenging activities.
Each month, there is a Pack Meeting with some type of theme or event: Welcome Back Campfire, Halloween Party, Holiday Party, Science Stations, etc. January brings the racing action of the Pinewood Derby, where scouts compete with model cars that they build. The Blue & Gold Banquet is held in February or March to honor the achievements of all the scouts during the year. The Raingutter Regatta is typically held in May and features sailboat races using sailboats made and powered by the scouts.
Throughout the year there are various other activities, including fishing, derbies, hikes and lots of fun.
Pack meetings are held monthly, usually on Fridays at 7:00 p.m. (please see pack schedule – Pack 899 meetings). All dens meet together at the monthly Pack meeting for special activities and award ceremonies. Pack meetings are a great opportunity for parents and scouts to participate in scouting together. Siblings and friends are always welcome at pack meetings.
Cub Scout Pack 899 in Fallston is divided into dens of 6-8 boys. Each den has a den leader and an assistant den leader who are volunteers—usually parents of scouts in the den. The dens meet on a regular basis, working on advancements, doing projects, and in general, practicing Cub Scout spirit. Meetings can take place at someone’s home, at a school or a church, depending on the individual den.
Cub Scout Pack 899 in Fallston participates in the Harford County Adopt-A-Park program, and scouts from the Pack clean-up the Fallston Recreation Complex throughout the school year. Pack 899 also participates in the Scouting For Food program annually, collecting food for those who are less fortunate. The Dens that make up Pack 899 also participate in many community oriented service projects throughout the year.
